About Us

Founded in 1994 by Ed and Reva Wren, the purpose of the Tabernacle was, and continues to be, to reach out to the those who are stuck in life controlling problems and hopelessness – with the Hope of Jesus. Our intent is to walk beside them, helping them to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.

Originally, the vision was outreach to outlaw motorcycle gangs, but that quickly expanded to outreaches to the homeless, those coming out of a lifetime of prison, gangs, substance abuse and addictions, or other life controlling problems.

There have been many aspects to this ministry over the years. Among these has been various street feeding programs, Christian 12-Step, a yearly camp out with other like ministries called “Breaking of the Bread”, and church services twice a week where we grow together as a body of Christ. The heart of our ministry is in-house discipleship programs where people can live in a safe, controlled environment, receiving lots of love, counseling, and training.

Our programs include daily Bible study, worship, private and group devotions, along with job readiness training, household and family skills and scheduling preparation, with lots of love and fellowship.

The Path Of Hope – We Believe:

That as God demonstrated His loves us, so we love others.
(1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”)

That our only Hope, peace, and life is in Jesus and in having a personal relationship with Him.
(John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”)

That this Hope is found in recognizing the wrong path (sin) and turning and following the truth of Jesus (repentance).
(Acts 3:19-20 “You must change your hearts and lives. Come to God, and He will forgive your sins. Then the Lord will give you times of spiritual rest. He will send you Jesus, the one he chose to be the Messiah [the anointed or chosen one].”)

That there is no life that cannot be turned around and find Hope and healing in Jesus.
(John 3:16-17 “God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son [Jesus], so that everyone who trusts in Him would not be lost but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world. He did not send Him to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through Him.”)

And that living our life in the Hope of Jesus means we have a purpose, a forever family, a God who walks beside us, comforting, empowering and teaching us, and a hope eternally with God and all the others that trust in Him.
(Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Psalms 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
    I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
    He leads me beside peaceful streams.
     He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
    bringing honor to his name.
 Even when I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
    for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
    protect and comfort me.
 You prepare a feast for me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
    My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
    all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
    forever.)
